Remarks :

This grass has minimal tolerance to grazing,
therefore it is often located in protected areas
or sites where grazing is less likely to occur.
The fuzzy stems and smooth leaf sheath give
the appearance of alternating fuzzy and smooth
segments the length of the stem. The seedhead
is delicate or fragile in appearance. Starts growth
in July, low seed viability; reproduces primarily
by stolons; frequently occurs in nearly pure stands;
frequently killed by overgrazing. Adapted to
plateaus, hills, and desert grasslands.
