Remarks :

The spreading, "sprangled" appearance of the
seedhead gives this grass its common name.
The leaves are rough on the upper surface. This
grass germinates easily and is used in native
grass mixtures when re-seeding overused
rangeland. Provides good grazing for livestock.
Adapted to rocky hills, canyons and sandy soils.
