Remarks :

This is an important grass of the "True Prairie",
this grass has a unique blue-green color in the
spring and summer, then turns a reddish-brown
during the dormant season. Seeds have a feathery
appearance. This grass is important to ground
nesting birds for nesting cover. This grass is
adapted to a large variety of soils on prairies and
savannahs. Grazed by all kinds of livestock and
decreases with heavy grazing.
