Remarks :

Adapted to dry or moist pastures, roadsides,
and waste areas. Prefers sandy soils. This grass
is readily grazed by livestock in the spring and
early summer. On heavily grazed areas, deer
will dig up and eat the basal part of the stem
during winter months. This grass adds variety
to livestock diet, but is seldom abundant enough
to be a key management species. Provides
nesting cover for some game birds.
