Remarks :

Generally scattered to abundant on sandy to calcareous clay soils throughout most of Texas. At maturity the basal leaves will turn yellow and curly, giving the appearance of wood shavings. The leaves are hairless. Provides fair grazing to livestock and some seed production for upland birds.
