Grass Species

Landowners and organizations working to preserve or restore prairie lands and wildlife habitats can rely on Bamert Seed Company for high quality native grass seed. Choosing the appropriate plant species can help ensure the long-term viability of a project, and prevent leaving adverse affects on the local ecosystem.

There are many factors that need to be considered when making species selections that will be used in a project. Not all grass and plant species can easily adapt to a region. Native plants and grasses have evolved over thousands of years in order to thrive in a region's climate and terrain, and form symbiotic relationships with a region's wildlife.

We at Bamert Seed Co. carry over 200 species of high quality native seed. Approximately 90 percent of the seed we sell is produced in our farm. Our region's arid climate, combined with supplemental irrigation and our quality control processes enable us to produce the highest quality native seeds.

View our selection of native seeds for more information on the species or to place an order. All the prices listed below are on a per pound basis.

This is a low growing, sod-forming grass with both rhizomes and stolons. Reproduces by seeds, tillers, rhizomes and stolons. This grass provides good grazing for livestock but is of little value to wildlife. This grass has high tolerance to saline sites, can be found in waste places, weedy habitats and old fields. Commonly planted as a pasture grass and home lawns
