Remarks :

Also known as "Shoe-strings" and "Spicebush".
The name, "Lead-plant" refers to the
leaden hue of the leaves. This is an erect or
ascending shrub 1–3 1/2 ft. tall, leafy to the
base, more or less densely gray-canescent
throughout. Flowers June to July. Adapted to
sandy or gravelly soils in sunny places. This
plant is useful as wildlife food, but is rarely
grazed by livestock.
