Remarks :

This perennial threeawn is also called, “Purple Threeawn”, due to the purple appearance of the seedheads in the spring and early summer. This grass is a densely tufted plant which livestock will utilize somewhat before the seedheads form. The stems do not branch and there are long hairs at the margin of the collar. Adapted to dry plains, gravelly or sandy soils.
